  24. It sounds like you are trying to set the baudrate in the box at the 
  25. bottom of the Baudrate area within the Duart Prefs program.  If you set 
  26. this to some number that your modem is incapable of (the range is 2 to 
  27. 172800), then duart.device will use 9600 baud.  If you are using a 14.4 
  28. modem, you should select, at most, the 57,600 setting (higher won't get 
  29. you any more, MNP won't compress to more than 4 times the modem's baud 
  30. rate).  I have the 57,600 setting button selected, but have 28800 setup 
  31. within the box at the bottom.  It is possible that you have some much 
  32. higher number in the box and duart.device is ignoring your other choice 
  33. because of this.
